Write the trip report before the photos disappear

Keep a useful memory while the small details are fresh.

Record the journey as well as the catch

Note what worked about access, timing, meals, and travelling with the group. These details are often what determine whether a destination is worth revisiting. A record built only around fish can miss the parts of the outing you could most easily improve.

Choose photographs with context

Select a few images that explain the place and the people, not every near-identical frame. Avoid sharing sensitive spots or access details that should remain private. A thoughtful caption helps preserve the story without exaggerating the result.

Make one promise smaller

End the report with a practical change for next time: less equipment, an earlier departure, or a clearer meeting point. A useful lesson belongs in the next packing list, not in an ever-growing account of everything that could have been better.

Travel plans should follow current permissions, local guidance, and suitable conditions. Leave enough room for a comfortable return.
